I REFER to Thursday's report, 'Love in theory'.
I am all for encouraging students in the polytechnics to go for such love courses. It not only provides practical tips for youngsters to prepare themselves for romance later on, but also, more importantly, helps them to select an appropriate life partner.
Most people I know who are divorced either picked someone completely different from them or casually went for someone who was pretty or wealthy.
Naturally, their relationships were stormy from day one of their marriage and they soon divorced.
Most girls here complain that Singapore guys are square and unable to make small talk during courtship. Thus, such courses will help our men be more romantic and conversant when they court their dates. Hopefully, we will then not lose too many of our local belles to foreigners.
More important, such a course provides the young with tools to be equipped for eventual romance and, hopefully, a blissful marriage. With the divorce rate climbing steadily, such a love course is surely timely.
