PRINT EDITION LETTERS
I REFER to Tuesday's letter by Mr Gilbert Goh, 'Fresh ideas needed to help professionals'. His view is that the priorities listed by the National Trades Union Congress Secretary-General are not new and that professionals, management and executives may not benefit from retraining.

Act on floods in business park
I WAS glad to read about plans to expand the International Business Park in Jurong East ('Jurong to get more business space', Dec 30).
My Point
'Such an approach in promoting kindness is less likely to alienate the Singaporean who has grown immune to in-your-face campaigns.'
Help parents too
LAST Friday, my daughter entered primary school for the first time. Like any eager parent, I oversaw her first few days in school, including orientation, and attended a curriculum talk by the school.
Employers must treat foreign workers fairly
WE REFER to recent reports about non-payment of wages to foreign workers and their living conditions.

ONLINE LETTERS
I READ with interest and concern Wednesday's article, 'Car hits volunteer in church, then speeds off'. It does not surprise me that another incident involving people driving to or from the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour in Siglap Hill has occurred. Long-suffering residents along this road have had to suffer, not infrequently, the antics of some impatient and inconsiderate, if not downright rude, churchgoers on their way to or from Mass.
Paperless archives: Can bank store transactions over a longer period?
I REFER to Ms Maggie Ang's letter, 'Firms unable to go paperless with monthly statements' (Jan 3).
Recruit teachers based on character, personality
I READ with interest the letters by Mr Ho Kong Loon ('Get feedback from teachers', Wednesday) and Mr Ee Teck Ee ('What matters is their quality', last Saturday), regarding teacher recruitment and the soon-to-be-released outcome of the primary school education review.
Green-bagging every day at FairPrice too
I REFER to the Online Forum letter on Wednesday, 'What's happened to Bring Your Own Bag day in supermarkets?'.
Bank's rationale behind home loan rates
I REFER to Mr Toh Hai Joo's letter on Monday, 'Home loans: No interest savings despite falling market rates'.
